During couples therapy sessions, I will provide a caring space for partners to feel heard and understood. It might be that you are at a crossroads, or additional stresses have placed a significant strain on the relationship, e.g. having a family. These issues may lead to having repeated arguments, feeling lonely in the relationship, or not feeling like you are really being understood by your partner.
Couples therapy aims to address the role of both partners in the difficulties they have, focusing on the space in between the couple - the relationship - almost treating it as like another person that needs looking after.
We will work together to help identify and break unhelpful patterns that might be maintaining conflict and distance between you. There are a variety of methods used to help develop healthier communication between partners. Similarly, changing behaviours can also help foster a closer and stronger connection.
My specific training is in Couples Therapy for Depression, based at the well reputed Tavistock for Relationships in London.
This has equipped me to counsel couples who are experiencing relationship difficulties, including where depression and/or anxiety may be affecting partners, and their responses to each other.
If the above sounds like something you and your partner may be interested in pursuing, or wanted to find out more, then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
